Neurosurgery (brain surgeon and spine surgeon)
Dr. Banczerowski is the neurosurgery medical director of the Hungarian National Institute of Neurology; he is head of the brain surgery department and senior physician in spine surgery, leading the spine surgery medical team at the institute. He is a professor at Semmelweis University as head of the Department of Neurosurgery, a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the president of the Neurosurgery Medical College Council, and member of the General Medicine Faculty Council of Semmelweis University. Dr. Banczerowski is the presiding over the neurosurgery education of central Hungary, and a board member of the Hungarian Neurosurgery Society. He is the president and founder of the Hungarian Chapter of the Walter E. Dandy Neurosurgical Society, and the national representative of the Executive Committee of the Southeast Europe Neurosurgical Society.
Having worked in the top medical institute of neurosurgery for more than 20 years, Dr. Banczerowski is an acknowledged expert in the latest techniques of brain and spine surgery, one of the few surgeons who are adapt in the combined treatment of both brain and spine conditions. Employing the latest in medical technology and managing a select team of surgeons and physicians, he is able to tacle the most complex problems that involve different medical fields.
Dr. Banczerowski is an expert in the complex surgical reconstruction of the spine using metal plates, treating a broad range of degenerative conditions (herniated disks, spinal stenosis, vertebral lystesis), tumours (both inside the vertebral canal and on the spine itself) and traumas (accident related injuries, such as a broken spine).
As well as performing spine operations, Dr. Barczenowski is a highly trained and experienced brain surgeon, successfully treating brain tumours, tumours of the skull, Arnold-Chiari malformations, vascular malformations (e.g. cavernoma). He is also a specialist of carpal and ulnar tunnel syndrome. He had an extensive training in Hungary and abroad, participated in several study tours overseas, and he was granted scholarships on many occasions.
Dr. Barczenowski is a regular contributor at international medical conventions, facilitating trainings and specialisation courses, regularly lecturing in both Hungarian and English. He works as a supervisor in the neurological clinical research PhD program of the Szentágothai Neurological Doctorate School at Semmelweiss University. His students have been successful contributors at conferences within the Scientific Students’ Association network. He is a member of the neurological specialist examination board.
Dr. Barczenowski is an active researcher in the fields of experimental and clinical neurological research. He is known for innovative surgical procedures in the field of spine surgery, specialising in techniques that propagate the gentle handling of tissues.
His scientific activities are noted in several medical bulletins worldwide; he has a 50+ impact factor and an h-index above 350. Dr. Barczenowski is on the editorial board of several medical publications.
