They can affect the airways (chronic cough, shortness of breath, asthma, laryngeal edema), the eyes (itchy eyes, conjunctivitis, allergic conjunctivitis), the nasal mucosa (nasal congestion, chronic rhinitis, hay fever), the skin (eczema, rashes, hives) and intestinal tract (food sensitivity, food allergies). Genetic predisposition and environmental influences are involved in their development, and the triggering of certain diseases can be considered as pathological reactions to external influences (mostly so-called allergens).

Insulin resistance: why ’fashionable illness’ doesn’t cut it

Prolonged symptoms, fatigue and weakness often persist after a COVID-19 infection, which may be indicative of possible longer-term respiratory and cardiovascular complications of the coronavirus. Mainly with more symptomatic cases but also with asymptomatic infections, scarring may develop in the lungs, causing myocarditis, myocardial infarction, heart failure, and thrombotic events due to increased coagulation.

Endometrial ablation

Endometrial ablation, also known as uterine ablation or curettage, can have several indications, either diagnostic or therapeutic. Diagnostic ablation is when we need information about the endometrium for diagnostic purposes, or when we suspect a malignancy or other lesion. A therapeutic ablation is when we remove the endometrium because of a prolonged bleeding disorder. The operation is performed under general anesthetic and is usually a one-day procedure unless the patient has a general underlying medical condition that requires several days in hospital.

Treatment of pollen allergy during the COVID-19 pandemic

Based on the climatic and geographical conditions of Hungary, we can distinguish three main pollen seasons, ranging from late February to late October, depending on the weather.
