Are men at risk? Reflections on men's health

Professors and senior doctors from Dr. Rose Private Hospital have joined forces to raise awareness of the importance of men's health. Over the age of 40, we need to be consciously committed to living a long and healthy life, not just for ourselves but also for our families. It is largely up to us to live the second half of our lives in a fresh and harmonious state mentally, emotionally and physically. Even small changes can help us gain extra years and improve our quality of life.

Keeping your heart healthy

What can we do for the health of our heart, how much exercise has a preventive effect on our cardiovascular system and with what kind of symptoms should we consult a cardiologist? We asked Dr. Rose Private Hospital’s internal medicine cardiologist, Professor István Préda, who is the author of several books about cardiology, as well as a cardiology specialist at the Health Science Council and a member of the Professional College of Sports Health.

Post-COVID symptoms

As of October 2021, more than 800,000 coronavirus infections had been registered in Hungary. Today, all of us know of family members and acquaintances who have had the disease, and unfortunately many of them experience Post-COVID symptoms that persist for months after the onset of the disease. We asked Dr. Noémi Kiss-Dala, an infectologist at Dr. Rose Private Hospital, about the most common persistent symptoms and how to cure them.

We are what we eat

The intestinal flora is a collection of microorganisms in our digestive system in symbiosis, i.e. in mutually beneficial coexistence, especially bacteria, fungi and other unicellular organisms that contribute to the maintenance of our health. Combined breast augmentation

The size and shape of the breasts are largely genetically determined. Childbirth, breastfeeding, extreme weight loss or weight gain can all have a detrimental effect even on previously beautiful, full-bodied shapes. In the case of most women, over time the breast glands decrease in size and as a result the breasts may sag, losing their firmness and fullness. The essence of combined breast augmentation is to replace the missing volume with an implant and to eliminate the sagging of drooping breasts. During combined breast augmentation, the plastic surgeon inserts an implant and lifts the breasts by excising a portion of the excess skin. After removing the excess skin and replenishing the required volume, the breasts become full and shapely again.

Endocrine and metabolic screening package for children

Disorders affecting the hormonal system and metabolism are diverse and widespread, making them among the most common health complaints in childhood. They can result in deficient or overactive glands (e.g. thyroid, growth), menstrual disorders during puberty, skin conditions (e.g. abnormal hair growth), weight control problems (e.g. insulin resistance, obesity, metabolic syndrome, or even abnormal leanness). Diseases not detected and treated in time - aside from cosmetic or aesthetic problems - can result in irreversible complications and associated diseases, such as central nervous system dysfunction, infertility, early atherosclerosis and cardiovascular diseases, etc. Their detection, prevention and timely treatment is therefore essential in childhood/adolescence and requires a targeted, complex screening. The screening package for children and adolescents involves a risk analysis in accordance with international medical guidelines, using a scientifically validated method and basic tests. Targeted examinations (laboratory and imaging) are then conducted to establish an accurate diagnosis or diagnoses. Lifestyle counselling and focused, individualized treatments are carried out according to any identified diseases or preventive conditions.

Senior screening package – for over 65 years

As we age, it is especially important to undergo regular screening tests, as these help to identify potential diseases and risk factors in a timely manner. Our Senior screening package focuses on health problems that often occur in people over 65, with special emphasis on hearing, vision, bone health, the condition of the cardiovascular system, as well as assessing brain function and dementia.

Tonsil surgery (tonsillectomy)

The tonsils are lymphoid tissues located on either side of the throat that play a role in protecting against infections. They are important in the functioning of the immune system in childhood, but their importance decreases with age. If the tonsils become frequently inflamed, permanently enlarged, or cause other health problems, their removal may be warranted.
