Loop conization, also known as a cone biopsy, is a special cervical surgery that can be used for both therapeutic and diagnostic purposes. During the procedure, a persistent cervical wound that does not heal with conservative treatment and causes inflammatory vaginal complaints is repaired for therapeutic purposes. High-risk HPV infection or abnormal cytological results may also indicate surgery, in which case the procedure also serves diagnostic purposes.
