The gallbladder is located under the liver, behind the ribs on the right side. Bile produced by the liver helps digest fats. This fluid is stored in the gallbladder before being passed through the bile ducts into the first section of the small intestine, known as the duodenum.
Ovarian surgery can be divided into two main groups: operations to treat benign and malignant lesions. Malignant ovarian lesions are treated in Hungary in a centralized system in specialized centers. In all cases where the possibility of malignancy is raised, surgery can only be performed in these centers.
Loop conization, also known as a cone biopsy, is a special cervical surgery that can be used for both therapeutic and diagnostic purposes. During the procedure, a persistent cervical wound that does not heal with conservative treatment and causes inflammatory vaginal complaints is repaired for therapeutic purposes. High-risk HPV infection or abnormal cytological results may also indicate surgery, in which case the procedure also serves diagnostic purposes. In this case, the affected area of the cervix is removed and sent for histological examination to accurately determine the condition of the cells. The histological result determines whether further treatment is necessary or whether surgery alone is sufficient to solve the problem.
In the early stages of pregnancy, unfortunately the embryo can cease developing and die inside the uterus. This condition is often asymptomatic and can be diagnosed with an ultrasound scan. Two types of cases may arise during the ultrasound scan: either an empty gestation sac is detected in which the embryo has not even started to develop, or the heart function of a previously developed embryo has stopped. If the development of the fetus stops by the 12th week of pregnancy, but the body does not initiate the natural rejection of the pregnancy tissues, then surgical intervention may be necessary, depending on the doctor's recommendation and the patient's condition.
Endometrial ablation, also known as uterine ablation or curettage, can have several indications, either diagnostic or therapeutic. Diagnostic ablation is when we need information about the endometrium for diagnostic purposes, or when we suspect a malignancy or other lesion. A therapeutic ablation is when we remove the endometrium because of a prolonged bleeding disorder. The operation is performed under general anesthetic and is usually a one-day procedure unless the patient has a general underlying medical condition that requires several days in hospital.
