Functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS)

The sinuses are air-filled cavities connected to the nasal cavity, in which secretions are continuously produced. For their healthy functioning, it is essential that the secretions produced are emptied into the nasal passages without hindrance. If the openings of the cavities are not permeable due to narrowing or blockage, the stagnant secretions can cause inflammation, infection and even the formation of nasal polyps. FESS is a modern, minimally invasive surgical procedure that uses endoscopic instruments to restore the natural ventilation and secretion drainage of the sinuses, thus eliminating the complaints caused by chronic inflammation.

Nasopharyngeal tonsil surgery (adenoidectomy)

The nasopharyngeal tonsil (adenoid) is located in the back of the nasal cavity, in the upper part of the pharynx, directly next to the openings of the eustachian tube. The adenoid tonsil participates in the defense against infections, especially in filtering pathogens that enter through the respiratory tract. Its function decreases with age and is no longer essential after a certain age, so the tonsil can be surgically removed based on medical indications.

Urological surgeries

Most urological problems can be treated well with medication, but for some medical conditions, surgery may be the best option. Nowadays, most urological surgery can be performed using an endoscope, a fibre-optic device inserted through the urethra or skin - even cancer surgery that would previously have seemed impossible without abdominal incision. Endoscopic surgeries are much less stressful for the patient, with faster recovery and fewer complications. Open excision surgery is only used when the disease cannot be safely treated by other means.

Eyelid surgery

Even if it doesn’t prevent aging, eyelid surgery helps to aesthetically turn back the clock, allowing you to look 5-8 years younger. Eyelid correction smoothes sagging skin and also eliminates bags under the eyes that form due to fat deposited around the lower eyelid. But it’s not only aesthetic problems that can be eliminated in this way as, if the sagging upper eyelid dangles onto the eyelashes it can also obstruct the field of vision.

Stone removal surgeries - ureteral stones, kidney stones

Endoscopic, intraureteral stone removal via a ureterorenoscope (URS) is necessary when a stone becomes lodged in the ureter or renal pelvis and does not pass on its own with conservative treatment methods (e.g., drinking plenty of fluids, exercising, and taking medication).

Pilonidal sinus (pilonidal cyst) removal

A pilonidal cyst (also called a pilonidal sinus, or buttock abscess) is a subcutaneous cavity and duct system that usually develops between the buttocks, in the sacrum area (i.e., above the tailbone at the top of the buttocks). Its name derives from the Latin words ‘pilus’ (hair) and ‘nidus’ (nest), because the cyst often contains hair that for some reason becomes embedded under the skin

Gallbladder surgery

The gallbladder is located under the liver, behind the ribs on the right side. Bile produced by the liver helps digest fats. This fluid is stored in the gallbladder before being passed through the bile ducts into the first section of the small intestine, known as the duodenum.
