Hepatology

The science of liver disease.  Diseases of the liver can include diseases of the whole liver (diffuse liver disease) as well as focal lesions in the liver. Diffuse liver diseases are often of inflammatory origin. Inflammation of the liver can be caused by viruses, which can lead to chronic inflammation of the liver. Liver-specific viruses are hepatitis A, B, C, D and E viruses. The liver can have autoimmune diseases, autoimmune hepatitis, autoimmune biliary inflammation. Inherited liver diseases also occur, iron and copper storage diseases. The most common liver disease today is fatty liver, which is often associated with obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, abnormal blood lipids. Liver disease caused by excessive alcohol consumption is common, but drugs and chemicals can also play a role in toxic damage.

Functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS)

The sinuses are air-filled cavities connected to the nasal cavity, in which secretions are continuously produced. For their healthy functioning, it is essential that the secretions produced are emptied into the nasal passages without hindrance. If the openings of the cavities are not permeable due to narrowing or blockage, the stagnant secretions can cause inflammation, infection and even the formation of nasal polyps. FESS is a modern, minimally invasive surgical procedure that uses endoscopic instruments to restore the natural ventilation and secretion drainage of the sinuses, thus eliminating the complaints caused by chronic inflammation.

Diabetology

Diabetology is a medical discipline dealing with the prevention and treatment of diabetes mellitus and its associated complications. Diabetes is a disorder of carbohydrate metabolism that is caused by a lack of a hormone called insulin produced by the pancreas, or by the body’s insensitivity to insulin (insulin resistance), or both. In the absence of sufficient insulin, the cells are unable to take up glucose, which raises blood sugar levels. Together, they cause the main symptoms.

Proctology

Proctology is the science of the last 20cm of the intestinal tract. Among the most common complaints are hemorrhoids, rupture of the rectum, and rectal pain. In addition, proctological diseases include benign and malignant tumors, polyps, blood clot complaints, rectal skin lesions, abscesses, fistulas, symptoms of infectious venereal diseases, and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) manifesting at this stage of the intestinal tract. Rectal pain is often caused by dysfunction of the sphincter and pelvic floor muscles.

Hysterectomy

Hysterectomy surgery can have several indications. Basically, a distinction is made between benign and malignant lesions, and also between surgery to address increased bleeding problems or other problems.

Laboratory tests

Laboratory tests can be used to diagnose a wide spectrum of illnesses. This is why blood tests, urinalysis and stool tests are key parts of numerous medical examinations. 

Deviated septum surgery

A deviated septum is a common condition that affects two-thirds of the Hungarian population. The nasal septum is a plate of cartilage and bone that divides the nasal cavity into two equal parts. Ideally, it is centrally located, ensuring even airflow in both nasal cavities, but it often develops minor or major deviations. This can be congenital or the result of injury. If the deviation is significant, one side of the nose becomes narrower, which can cause difficulty breathing, nasal congestion and recurrent inflammation. A deviated septum can be corrected surgically, improving nasal breathing and everyday comfort.

Pediatric dermatology

In infancy and childhood, the skin is more vulnerable, with more frequent skin lesions and various infections. Nowadays, more and more children have sensitive skin, thus certain skin diseases are specific to childhood.
