TORCH Screening

This screening method is used to diagnose different infectious diseases (Toxoplasmosis, Rubella and Cytomegalovirus) from blood. These infections might cause developmental anomalies in newborns and illnesses in adults. Testing is usually done if the mother got sick during the pregnancy or the baby is born with a deformity that might have been due to the infections mentioned above. As preventive screening is highly recommended, the test is part of our prenatal care examinations and family planning packages. The blood sample is drawn from an arm vein of adults and from the heel of newborn babies.
