Week 12

Prescribed tests

I. Ultrasound screening, in which, in addition to determining the exact age of the fetus, we also screen for Down syndrome by measuring the nuchal fold and examining the nasal bone. During the study, Down syndrome can be screened out with approximately 70% efficiency.

To increase the efficiency of Down syndrome screening, it is possible to perform a combined test, which, in addition to the above ultrasound examination, is a lab test performed from the expectant mother’s blood, which increases the screening accuracy to 90-92%. The test can be performed from week 11 of the pregnancy to day 6 of week 13 and the Down syndrome risk can be calculated.

Further tests available on the Dr. Rose Private Hospital pregnancy care program

Optional: DNA based genetics screening (PrenaTest, NIFTY Test)
