In recent months, the term “weight-loss injection” has become increasingly common on social media and news platforms. Some hail it as a miracle cure, others remain sceptical – but what exactly is it? These so-called “slimming injections” are actually GLP-1 agonists: medications originally developed to help people with diabetes, but now also proving remarkably effective in aiding weight loss. So, how do these treatments work in the body, who are they suitable for, and what are the benefits and risks?
