Endocrinology is a branch of internal medicine, and it deals with the physiology and diseases of endocrine glands.
Our endocrinologists are specialized in the treatment of dysfunctions in certain cell blocks of the pancreas, thyroid, parathyroid, testicles, ovaries and pituitary gland. All of these glands are strongly connected to the nervous system (neuro-endocrine system) and they secrete the hormones that are necessary to carry out physiological functions such as metabolism, circulation, sexual maturation, weight, etc.
The most common endocrine diseases are diabetes, PCO (polycystic ovary syndrome), hypo- and hyperthyroidism, ovary disorders, sexual dysfunction in men, etc.
Based on your medical history, current complaints and symptoms, the endocrinologist prescribes the necessary laboratory tests (hormone levels, glucose tolerance, etc.), imaging examinations (CT, MRI, ultrasound, isotopic, etc.), or cytology examinations (for e.g. thyroid biopsy). Depending on the results, he or she can recommend conservative treatment (drugs, isotope, etc.), or a surgery if necessary.
- Thyroid surgeries: goiter, hyperthyroidism, cyst, tumor
- Parathyroid surgeries: benign tumors, hyperparathyroidism
- Laparoscopic adrenal gland surgeries: benign and malignant tumors, cysts
