Spider vein treatment

Special laser treatment to block dilated thread veins, mainly on the legs.

WHEN IS SPIDER VEIN TREATMENT WARRANTED?

Our vascular system is woven throughout our body, but the blood vessels are usually not visible under our skin. Occasionally, however, the capillaries dilate at certain stages and become visible due to increased blood flow, especially in the legs. This is a very embarrassing phenomenon, especially for women. Blood vessels dilated to a maximum diameter of 4mm can only be concealed on the legs with dark stockings or trousers, hence the best solution is to treat these veins with a high-intensity laser energy using the Alma Harmony XL PRO laser device. Spider veins can appear at any age.

WHAT HAPPENS AT THE FIRST CONSULTATION?

Prior to treatment, our dermatologist will examine your skin, assess the vascular changes, then prepare a personal treatment plan and describe the steps and effects of the treatment. Since spider veins can not only be an aesthetic problem, but may even indicate venous valve dysfunction, if necessary, our specialist may recommend further tests directing you to the appropriate clinic.

PREPARATION FOR TREATMENT

There is no special preparation in the case of cosmetic and cosmetological treatments, but the use of body and skin care products in the 24 hours before the treatment should be avoided.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING TREATMENT?

As the first step, our dermatologist prepares the skin surface to be treated, cleans it of all impurities, and then cools it slightly before treatment. Safety goggles must always be worn during spider vein treatment, during which the laser light targets the hemoglobin in the blood, which absorbs the light’s energy and causes the vessel wall to contract and die. The vessel wall remnants leave the body through the excretory organs. The treating doctor or dermatologist moves the treatment head following the line of the blood vessels, so that even the smallest blood vessels become blocked in the area for treatment. Intervention with light energy causes a mild, pin-pricking pain, but this is a sign of the treatment’s effectiveness. The duration of the treatment is 10-60 minutes, depending on the size of the area to be treated, usually 2 visits are needed to achieve the optimal result, but in some cases 4-5 irradiations may be required. Between each treatment, 4-6 weeks should elapse.

WHAT RESULTS CAN BE EXPECTED FROM THE TREATMENT?

Thanks to the treatments, spider veins on the legs, also known as thread veins, will disappear and your skin will be clearer.

RECOVERY, AFTERCARE

You can safely do your usual activities after spider vein treatment. Occasionally, scabs may appear on the treated area, which will flake off on its own during complete healing. This should not be removed earlier as it may result in a lack of pigment. Occasionally, your doctor may recommend that you have a follow-up treatment after a few months to remove any residue. It is recommended to use sunscreen for at least 3 months after treatment of varicose and spider veins.
