Proctology

Proctology is the science of the last 20cm of the intestinal tract. Among the most common complaints are hemorrhoids, rupture of the rectum, and rectal pain. In addition, proctological diseases include benign and malignant tumors, polyps, blood clot complaints, rectal skin lesions, abscesses, fistulas, symptoms of infectious venereal diseases, and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) manifesting at this stage of the intestinal tract. Rectal pain is often caused by dysfunction of the sphincter and pelvic floor muscles.

Hydrogen Breath Test

Hydrogen exhalation tests are a widespread gastroenterological examination method due to their simplicity and practicality. The examination is based on the fact that carbohydrates that are not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract are broken down by bacteria in the digestive system, accompanied by the formation of hydrogen, which enters the lungs through the bloodstream and enters the exhaled air.

Stone removal surgeries - bladder stones

One possible form of urinary tract stones (urolithiasis) is bladder stones, i.e., the presence of urinary stones in the bladder. Removal of bladder stones is usually done through the urethra endoscopically (transurethral) and only rarely, usually in the case of large stones, is open surgical removal necessary.

Loop conization of the cervix

Loop conization, also known as a cone biopsy, is a special cervical surgery that can be used for both therapeutic and diagnostic purposes. During the procedure, a persistent cervical wound that does not heal with conservative treatment and causes inflammatory vaginal complaints is repaired for therapeutic purposes. High-risk HPV infection or abnormal cytological results may also indicate surgery, in which case the procedure also serves diagnostic purposes. In this case, the affected area of the cervix is removed and sent for histological examination to accurately determine the condition of the cells. The histological result determines whether further treatment is necessary or whether surgery alone is sufficient to solve the problem.

Pilonidal sinus (pilonidal cyst) removal

A pilonidal cyst (also called a pilonidal sinus, or buttock abscess) is a subcutaneous cavity and duct system that usually develops between the buttocks, in the sacrum area (i.e., above the tailbone at the top of the buttocks). Its name derives from the Latin words ‘pilus’ (hair) and ‘nidus’ (nest), because the cyst often contains hair that for some reason becomes embedded under the skin

Varicose vein surgeries

Varicose veins are an abnormal dilation of the veins, most often appearing in the legs. The essence of varicose veins is that the venous valves in the veins (especially in the lower extremities) do not function properly, hence blood cannot flow back to the heart effectively but instead begins to pool in the veins, leading to their dilation and the formation of the characteristic bulging and twisted varicose veins.
